Where is it held?

Sydney Central YHA

This is the same venue as in 2013-2015. The function room is comfortable and air-conditioned. The entire venue is non-smoking. The YHA and function rooms are wheelchair accessible. However, the main lifts only go to level 8, access to level 9 is via a 15-20 step staircase. Lift access to level 9 is available, the hostel has requested it is best to let them know in advance - please let us know, and we will help liase with hostel.

Reasonably priced accommodation is available at the venue if needed/wanted (see below).

How can I get there?

Sydney Central YHA is located opposite Central Station, on the corner of Rawson Place and Pitt Street.

Please note: This is not Sydney Railway Square YHA, which adjoins Central Station, and to which there are signs within the station.

It is less than 5 minutes walk from Central Station (use Eddy Ave exits).

There are many bus routes that go to Central Station. Please see the Sydney Buses or Sydney Transport Infoline websites for more information.

There are several parking stations around the city that are within walking distance, hourly/daily rates will vary. We recommend checking Secure Parking and Wilson Parking. Please ask if you want suggestions, as it may depend on where you're coming from, and whether you want to be closer to YHA or dinner venue afterwards.

Contact the hotel for for details of the airport shuttle, or take the train from the airport to Central station (it's on the same line as the airport, you will not need to change trains).

Both shared and private rooms are available. We have not stayed here, but reviews are generally positive.

We are not arranging a group booking, any rooms will have to be booked directly with the hotel. Room mates can be sought on the livejournal community and dreamwidth community (check both places as comments not crossposted).

What about food?

To keep costs low and flexibility high, Sinpozium is not catered, however, there are a variety of shops, cafes, takeaway places, supermarkets and restaurants in the area, and a cafe in the hostel. We will provide a map similar to prior years (2011 map) at Sinpozium.

We have use of the kitchen adjacent to the function room, which includes a fridge, if you want to bring your own food (we cannot guarantee availability of utensils/crockery, please bring whatever you need).

An optional group booking for dinner on the Saturday and Sunday nights will be organised closer to the event. Please note that the cost of this is not included in Sinpozium registration.
